CHORD REPETITION

So guess who's coming back to Glee.

And guess who's embarrassed for caring so much.

LIVE YOUR LIFE INTERRUPTED

TUNE FOR TUESDAY

More a capella from The Sing Off for you guys.
This time, On The Rocks
from the University of Oregon (Go, Ducks!).

They were the "entertaining college boy group" from Season 2.
The "entertaining college boy group" from Season 1 went on to work on Glee,
providing actual singing for the Warblers to lip sync to.
When Season 3 starts up, I wonder who this year's "entertaining college boy group" will be.

Yeah, it seems that formulaeic.

DECENT PROPOSAL

Darren Criss in a tuxedo
Darren showed up at my birthday party last night
dressed like this and carrying an engagement ring.

It was flattering, of course, but I had to say "no."
There's no way I could do that
to all my other imaginary boyfriends.

Sexy and charming!

Isn't he just?
Most of the guys I put up here are just targets for lust,
but this guy I think I'd like to be friends with.
Hang out and have a beer.
Sit up late and sing lots of songs.

CHORD OVERSTREET

Chord Overstreet pouting into the camera
Chord Overstreet looking very molestable
Chord Overstreet with a big grin on his face

Let's be honest.
We can't have a month of blond guys
with mentioning Chord Overstreet.
After all, the day after his first appearance on Glee,
he was known as "that blond guy."

It's impossible to know what his real hair colour is,
but he'd admitted in interviews that the producers of Glee make him lighten his hair.

But no big deal.
His hot mouth is real. His sweet singing voice is real.
And that body of his is so real that it's frustrating for lots of reasons.

ONE TOUGH COOKIE MONSTER

There's a line between "beautiful boy"
and "scary-looking man."

And according to this photo stolen from Guy Candi,
Chord Overstreet is poised to go too far
and land on the wrong side of that line,
where the men are too lean, too hard, and too defined.

All he needs now is a cheap prison tattoo and a wifebeater,
and he'll make people driving through his neighbourhood
lock the doors and roll up the windows.

Chord Overstreet shirtless -- Yes, again! -- over-hard

I'd be more worried, but from the look on his face,
he flexing as hard as he can.
I bet that when he relaxes, he looks like a lovely human again.

By the way, enough with the jokes about his mouth!
There's nothing wrong with it.
Though, I still laugh at him asking Santa for
"Chapstick. Lots and lots of Chapstick."

BUT WHEN I DREAM, I DREAM OF EWWWW!

I'm not proud of this,
but a couple of days ago I awoke from a dream
where I was torturing Nick Jonas,
assisted by Becky from Glee,
but Becky was dressed as the tap-dancing Bee Girl
from that Blind Melon video.

I hope I finish this prescription off soon.

On the other hand,
I haven't laughed so much
over one of my own titles
in a long time.

AB FAB

Darren Criss charmed the Hell out of me
the first time he appeared on GLEE,
but I guessed then that he'd probably be hairy
under that prep school coat.

And I was right.

But I had no idea that his body was so lean and fit, too.
Now, thanks to photos in Out Magazine,
we can see it for ourselves.

Criss showing us his lean torso
Darren works hard on GLEE,
but it's not the acting, singing, and
dancing
that require the most effort.

It's resisting the urge to show
Chord Overstreet how shirtless is done.

KNOT WORKING FOR ME

So how sick is it
that I think he looks hot tied up?

Someone has Darren Criss all tied up
Jealous at the attention Darren was getting,
the other guys
on Glee found a way
to prevent him giving interviews.

But if they were trying to stop him
from looking hot,
they failed.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

ROSE COLOURED GLASSES OF SUNNY D

So look who's been interviewed for Interview magazine.

Darren Criss from Interview magazine

And of course that required some stylish new photographs,
in this case taken by photographer Mitchell Nguyen McCormack
then later stolen by me from Homotography.

The boy looks hot, no?

FIRE PLACE IN MY HEART

Okay, I have two things to say about this clip,
but you should watch it first.

First, I saw this with some 18-year-old kid who's only point of reference was the Will Ferrell movie ELF. Honestly. A sixty year old song and his only connection is ELF.

Second, I'm pretty sure that in this song Darren Criss proves he's got the best voice of anybody on that show. Others may be louder or bolder or more dramatic, but I haven't heard anyone bend and inflect notes with the skill this boy has.

LIP GLOSSY 8X10

I've seen people make jokes about Chord Overstreet's mouth.
What the Hell is wrong with his mouth?

...except that it's hundreds of miles away.

Chord Overstreet looking very hot again
After all the time spent shirtless on episode
after episode of Glee, it's perhaps understandable
if Chord Overstreet finds shirts a bit confining.

GEE! MAJOR CHORD!

Okay, I confess.

I slapped this thing up here before I'd actually watched it, so I didn't realize how mediocre it is. Sure, there's a lot of blond goodness here, but the editor at All About Strength seems to be prouder of his editing tricks than he should be. Instead of using what clips he has and making them look good, he stretches them out and repeats them to make it seem like he's got more than he does. The last five minutes of this is a great example of this.

Still, it is Chord Overstreet, and time spent looking at him is worthwhile.

GRIFFIN DOOR MAT

I only got one comment on my last post including the newest official Gleek Darren Criss, but I don't care. I've decided that I'm impressed with this guy. And it's not the drooling, hormone-riddled kind of impressed. I actually have a lot of respect for this guy's talent. Probably most of all for his song-writing abilities.

Check him out singing one of his own songs in this excerpt from the Very Potter Sequel. His song begins about two minutes in if you want to skip the acting, but Brian Holden as Professor Lupin is definitely worth watching. Why? I won't pretend to know.

And try to forgive the ill-mannered audience for applauding before the song is over. What the Hell are they teaching kids these days?

Every time, I think Ron is saying, "Hey, Harry, let's go get sordid."

This part with The Sorting Hat is part 4. If you want to see The Scarf of Sexual Preference, you'll need to see Part 5. Or, better yet, just start from the beginning.

If you click over to the YouTube page and read the comments, you'll see there's a kind of struggle going on between the StarKid fans who made the Very Potter musicals and the fans of Glee. It seems like both of them are trying to claim this guy for their own. It's all rather sad and very middle school.

CRISS CROSS POLLINATION

So I saw the new episode of Glee yesterday, and Chord Overstreet can relax a bit because I didn't spend the rest of the day with completely lecherous thoughts about his hot crooked mouth. Instead I was taken with the newest new guy, Darren Criss.

Darren Criss, Glee's newest addition

If you haven't heard his song, here it is. And check out the other guys in the audience. It's a glimpse of what high school could look like with a few stylists on staff and none of those icky girls.

And evidently I'm not the only one. He appeared on Tuesday night's episode. And evidently by Wednesday night, he'd been signed as a series regular starting with Season 3.

Darren Criss, Glee's newest addition

Looking around this morning I find that he's also an accomplished songwriter, penning all the tunes for Michigan's StarKid Production's A Very Potter Sequel. And he has something to do with Me & My Dick, which I haven't seen yet.

Darren Criss, Glee's newest addition

I also found him at imdb, where there are photos of his "incredibly curly hair." I like the boy's school haircut that the Glee producers gave him, but the curls are great too.

Darren Criss, Glee's newest addition

By the way, there have been a lot of jokes lately about how Chord Overstreet appears shirtless in every episode. And Glee really played into the joke by having him shirtless in the very first shot. HA!

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE BOOK

So I finally saw the Glee Rocky Horror Show. It opened with lips singing the prologue just like the movie, which made me hopeful. But then the singer mispronounced the second word out of her mouth, which did not bode well.

By the way, if — as I suspect — this mouth belongs to Dianna Agron, then these lips know what Alex Pettyfer tastes like. Lucky bitch.

But of course my main reason for watching was Chord Overstreet. So far, this season of Glee has had 4 episodes, and he's appeared with his shirt off in 3 of them.

And he wasn't in that 4th episode at all. I guess they were going chordless that week.

Here's Chord in all his blond deliciousness. And shirted for a change. But to tell the truth, I've always found those baseball undershirts really sexy.

Here. Let me do that for you.

Chord Overstreet again from the Glee Rocky Horror Show

And here we see Chord shirtless again, as God intended.

This time he's wearing the little gold shorts that so many people talked about before the show aired. By the end, he was wearing a shirt and a pair of those ridiculous board shirts, but this was his first costume for Rocky, almost as short as the ones Peter Hinwood wore in the original.

The best moment for me, though, was the cameo appearance of Barry Bostwick and Marvin Aday, whom the world knows as Meatloaf. It was really great to see them — a real tribute to the original movie (too bad Richard O'Brien wasn't involved somehow), but also a little odd because Glee airs on Tuesday, and at my house we only have meatloaf on Thursdays.

But where the Hell is Puck? I was kinda hoping to see him as Eddie.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC THEORY

Okay, I've got an explanation on the name.

In an interview, Chord Overstreet said that he was the third of three children "and there are three notes in a chord so..."

...so his songwriter father gave him the name "Chord" because was the last note in a triad. Which means, presumably, his siblings (brothers? sisters? one of each?) are named Root and Third. And if there'd been a highly intelligent fourth child, he would have had to be called Augmented Seventh.

AND . . .
not intending to disappoint anyone or anything, but rumours about this guy being as gay as his character aren't true.

The character he plays may eventually be revealed as gay and paired up with Kurt, but Chord Overstreet isn't gay. In another interview, he talks a bit too much about impressing the ladies (and spending an hour on his abs alone so he can do so!) and he states flatly that he's never kissed a guy.

And the idea that guy could be gay and look like him and get to his twentieth birthday without some other guy kissing him is just ridiculous.

While we're on the subject, it seems I was a bit premature in thinking Dreamboats didn't know about this guy. I should have known better: when it comes to spotting pretty young actors, Jay is both quick and very thorough.

OVERSTREET MAP

So I watched the season premiere of Glee again, and this time I made some captures of Chord Overstreet.

Uh . . . when do I need to start calling this an obsession?

CHORD PROGRESSION

So I've seen the new episode of Glee now, and there's definitely a good reason to watch the show. His name is Chord Overstreet, so you know his parents expected interesting things from him. The first episode isn't over yet, and we've already heard him sing twice and seen him take a shower.

I don't know much about the actor yet, but it'd be very easy to fall in love with his character on the show.

I'm a bit surprised I haven't seen this guy
on Dreamboats or Vera's blog yet.
He totally seems the type.

As far as the show is concerned, I find it goes a lot faster if you speed through the songs.
