OH, YES, LET'S...

TUNE FOR TUESDAY

Pentatonix won Season 3 of THE SING OFF last night.
Check them out here if you don't already know how hot they sound.
Or if you just want to hear this song again.

EVIL WOMAN

TUNE FOR TUESDAY

Eartha Kitt
I Want to be Evil

Yeah, I've put this song up there on a Tuesday past,
but it's definitely worth hearing again.

WHOLE LOTTA LOVE LOCK DOWN

TUNE FOR TUESDAY

Yes, I'm still a little obsessed with a capella singing
and with NBC's The Sing Off.
(Last night's episode is playing now, as a matter of fact.)

And lately I'm a tiny bit obsessed with the adorable Mitch Grassi,
who is one fifth of the group Pentatonix.

Here you can enjoy a little taste of all three of these minor obsessions of mine.
I think you'll be impressed with what a big sound five people can make.
If you like the performance, please leave a comment.

MR ROGERS NEIGHBOURHOOD

Season 3 of NBC's THE SING OFF started last night.

The show sounds good,
but it doesn't look as good as it used to.

If you think Jeff Rogers looks busy
with a microphone in front of his mouth,
you should try handing him a taco.

POOR WAYFARING STRANGER THAN FICTION

TUNE FOR TUESDAY

Yeah, here's another dose of a capella.
And, surprisingly enough, it's a spiritual, which I normally can't stand
— being all anti-superstition and all —
but I just really love the sound of this.

These eight people make beautiful music together.

ANOTHER BOTTLE OF WINEHOUSE

Sadly, not a shock,
but surprising nevertheless.

This isn't entirely an Amy Winehouse song,
but it's still one of my favourite compilations.

Admittedly, this is bitter,
but all I can think of right now
is all the less talented people who
just keep on living.

LIVE YOUR LIFE INTERRUPTED

TUNE FOR TUESDAY

More a capella from The Sing Off for you guys.
This time, On The Rocks
from the University of Oregon (Go, Ducks!).

They were the "entertaining college boy group" from Season 2.
The "entertaining college boy group" from Season 1 went on to work on Glee,
providing actual singing for the Warblers to lip sync to.
When Season 3 starts up, I wonder who this year's "entertaining college boy group" will be.

Yeah, it seems that formulaeic.

KNOT WORKING FOR ME

So how sick is it
that I think he looks hot tied up?

Someone has Darren Criss all tied up
Jealous at the attention Darren was getting,
the other guys
on Glee found a way
to prevent him giving interviews.

But if they were trying to stop him
from looking hot,
they failed.

So my friends and I have already decided:

concert
and waiting for his balls to drop.

BREAK FAST CAR

It's been a long time since I put a song up here,
but I keeping being impressed with Boyce Avenue.
Granted, they cover others' songs,
imitating the original version a bit to tightly,
but I've yet to hear them them do a bad job.

And this version with Kina Grannis is really good.

Enjoy.

GRIFFIN DOOR MAT

I only got one comment on my last post including the newest official Gleek Darren Criss, but I don't care. I've decided that I'm impressed with this guy. And it's not the drooling, hormone-riddled kind of impressed. I actually have a lot of respect for this guy's talent. Probably most of all for his song-writing abilities.

Check him out singing one of his own songs in this excerpt from the Very Potter Sequel. His song begins about two minutes in if you want to skip the acting, but Brian Holden as Professor Lupin is definitely worth watching. Why? I won't pretend to know.

And try to forgive the ill-mannered audience for applauding before the song is over. What the Hell are they teaching kids these days?

Every time, I think Ron is saying, "Hey, Harry, let's go get sordid."

This part with The Sorting Hat is part 4. If you want to see The Scarf of Sexual Preference, you'll need to see Part 5. Or, better yet, just start from the beginning.

If you click over to the YouTube page and read the comments, you'll see there's a kind of struggle going on between the StarKid fans who made the Very Potter musicals and the fans of Glee. It seems like both of them are trying to claim this guy for their own. It's all rather sad and very middle school.

HANGING TEN OUT OF TEN

Wait . . . Before I post this, I better check this guy's age.

Okay. He turned 18 three weeks ago. Let's go.

I've heard of skintight suits
like this being described

as "leaving nothing to the imagination."

But somehow my imagination is finding
all kinds of things to work on.

Nice, but no more!

I have a hard time explaining my attraction to this boy.
He's not a pretty as the boys I'm usually drawn, too.
(He's not even as pretty as
his older brother.) But
there's just something so damned sexy about him,
though it doesn't show in this photo.

7TH INNING STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION

Oh, one never knows what one will find on the Internet.

Like researching something from the USA Department of Transportation and finding a photograph of the the Jonas Brothers in baseball uniforms.

No, really! See for yourself...

Joe Kevin Nick Jonas in baseball uniforms
I like that Nick is wearing the old-fashioned
knee pants, and I wonder why Kevin is #19.
I mean: they could just as easily been 1, 2,
and 3. But kudos to the middle child for
finally getting to be #1.

By the way, do you think Joe might actually
be wearing a cup? Or is that all him?

When I was labeling this entry, I toyed with the idea of adding "athletes" because I thought that anyone searching for such a topic might want to see this photo. But I didn't, because without knowing whether they can actually play or not, I was hesitant to call them "athletes."

Then I remembered what kind of saccharine, Archies crap they play, and I was hesitant to call them "musicians" either.

MIDDLE CHILD OF DARKNESS

With his older brother married and
his younger brother working alone,
Joe may be feeling a bit lonely.
And I'm officially volunteering
to do something about that.
